2013- How Goes the Battle?2011- Oh, That Sweet Unrest2010- Scenes From The ExodusAntarctic Cartoons2009- Grow Me A Boat
Hi friends!
Most timely announcement first: I have a show opening at Joe Bar on April 11th. It's called How Goes the Battle?, and I've been using faux gold leaf and looking at a lot of 17th century Japanese armor. Each painting is loosely inspired by/paired with a poem by Kay Ryan, and the series is about laying down arms and finding a healthy relationship with anger.

I have been having a grand old time being incommunicado of late. Sorry about that. If you'd like to know what I've been doing while hiding from self promotion, here's video documentation of my last bizarre project, What We Make When We're Not Making: An Exploration of Downtime in the Creative Process... As Explained by Hairties.

The lovely folks over at Washington Artist Trust gave me a GAP grant to work on a nonfiction graphic novel about Antarctica. It's turning out to be an exploration of the divide between expectation and reality, and about taking leaps of faith in endeavors that ultimately end in failure. This one is going pretty far down the rabbit hole, and I'm bringing Peter Pan and The Great Gatsby into it. I'm planning on working on this for at least a year, which is kind of terrifying.

Other than that, I'm working on a bunch of random smaller projects, including drawing portraits of rescue goats, writing a series of essays about Failure for The Project Room, and auctioning off a custom portrait of you riding your favorite dinosaur for Washington Ensemble Theater's Annual Gala.

Ok, I think that brings us relatively up to date. Whew. Over and out for now! If you'd like to stay in the loop about upcoming projects (and oh there are many more than the above brief list....) become my fan on facebook or shoot me an email so I can add you to my mailing list.

Slowly reemerging from the cocoon....
