NOTE: I will eventually put all these up as free PDFS for people to use however they like-- haven't got to that yet, but I'm working on it!
During last summer's uprising for racial justice, I came into the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP) and used comics journalism to provide reliable, context-based information about what was happening on the ground. I planned to stay for 3-4 days; instead, I went viral as a news source and stayed for 3.5 weeks because the need for information was vital. You can read an article about this HERE.
I remained on site until the final, heavily armed police sweep, and have pivoted my now-unexpectedly-large social media platform into monthly educational deep dives where I research topics of racial equity, conducting interviews and covering everything from how racial profiling plays out in sociolinguistics, to the role of the drug war in the history of police militarization, to grassroots efforts towards BIPOC-led food sovereignty.
